Hallam Road Landfill

Hallam Road Landfill is part of a larger Resource Recovery Centre located in Hampton Park near Dandenong in South East Melbourne. The site is home to a number of entities aimed at the recovery and reuse of incoming waste, including Outlook, a public drop off area and not for profit organisation, ResourceCo, a specialist Construction & Demolition waste recycler, a Product Destruction Unit, an Education Centre and the engineered Landfill.

Select Civil are contracted to Veolia (formerly Suez Environmental) at the site to provide full-service landfill operations for site, including all tip face operations, stormwater & leachate management, customer facing management, maintenance of access roads and ongoing odour and litter control.

Waste coming to the site is generally by kerbside collectors with a small number of larger transfer trailers. With the majority of the waste being brought to the site by kerbside collections the site is very busy with 300 to 400 truck movements a day. Select uses its fleet of equipment at the site to minimise waiting times for trucks, maximise compaction of waste and ensure application of cover material in line with EPA guidelines.

In conjunction with the engineered landfill at Hallam Road Select also provide landfill services for Veolia’s sister facility, Taylors Road Landfill in Dandenong South. This facility is licensed for the disposal of special and industrial waste.
