Select Civil have been contracted by WaterNSW to design and construct access road upgrades to 9.20km of access roads servicing critical water security assets in the Shoalhaven region. The roads facilitate safe access for WaterNSW operators and contractors along both the Fitzroy Falls Reservoir and Canal special areas.
One of the key aspects of the project is the design and construction of a semi-submerged retaining wall to stabilise 2 separated collapsed portions of the access road, which are currently inaccessible. The project has a total value of $850,000, commenced in May 2019 and is on track to reach practical completion and final delivery in November 2019.
As the project is located immediately adjacent to potable water storage and transfer assets, environmental control is of critical importance to the project success. Select Civil have taken, and been commended on, their proactive approach to sediment control and liquid storage on site to minimise any potential environmental and safety impacts from the works.
